Homeopathy is a medical system based on the belief that the body can cure itself. We use tiny amounts of natural substances, like plants and minerals, that stimulate the healing process. It was developed in the late 1700s in Germany by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann.
Undoubtedly, Homoeopathy today is a rapidly growing system of medicine and is being practiced almost all across the globe. In India it has become extremely popular due to gentleness of its cure and minimal side effects.
Homoeopathy means treating diseases with remedies, prescribed in minimum doses, which are capable of producing symptoms similar to the disease when taken by healthy human beings. It is based on the natural law of healing- which means "likes are cured by likes". This is meant to trigger the body's natural defences. For example, onions make our eyes water. So it is used as a homeopathic remedy for allergies.
We, Homoeopaths, weaken these ingredients by adding water or alcohol & shake the mixture as part of a process called "potentization". This step transfers the healing essence in the form of energy. We believe that the lower the dose, the more powerful the medicine. In fact, many of these remedies no longer contain any molecules of the original substance.
Homoeopathy has a holistic approach towards the sick individual through promotion of inner balance at mental, emotional, spiritual and physical levels. This type of treatment is individualistic and it takes into account the patient details like food & eating habits, likes and dislikes, environments, habits, diet, appetite, fear, sleeping habits everything which describes a persons overall outlook or personality.
In the words of Mahatma Gandhi - "Homoeopathy cures a larger percentage of cases than any other method of treatment and is beyond doubt safer, more economical and most complete medical science."
